| (Submitted by Brian Wilson - Trip taken Jan 2007)) Nazca Peru is home to the Nazca Lines, which were made by pre Inca culture somewhere between 300BC and 700AD. They moved dark pebbles exposing the whitish ground underneath and created hundreds of lines , animals and geometric shapes. This is a windless desert area which has preserved the lines. Several companies have tours by air, and I hoped to rent an airplane and instructor for a local flight, but this is not possible. Several years ago there was an 'Incident' and all aircraft carrying passengers have had the right hand control wheel and rudder pedals removed. For US$ 40.00 you can go for a 20 minute tour. Sabsa was the tour operator I used. |
